Why we should think about more than money

Scotland's independence comes and goes in the news at the moment and Tim Harford has some observations from the economist point of view. Its not quite what you'd expect though as his article discusses why putting a monetary value on everything is not necessarily the right way to go, especially given that it is quite often impossible to understand what that number means.

Its an interesting line of thought, especially from an economist who many expect to want to reduce everything to numbers and values.

Too often the debate over public policy becomes a toy argument, dressed up to resemble the grown-up version with financial forecasts serving as the sparkly accessories.
